New Delhi: India is currently facing off against Bangladesh in the second Test of the two-match series at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. It is evident that Rohit Sharma and his team will be aiming to clinch a victory in the match to secure a whitewash series win against Bangladesh. In a historic move, even before the first ball of the match was bowled, India skipper Rohit Sharma made a significant decision, becoming the first captain in 60 years to do so.
Rohit Sharma becomes the first skipper in 60 years to take THIS big decision:
Talking about the match before the ball was bowled, it was India who won the toss and opted to bowl first, on a pitch where many experts predicted that he should have batted first. Rohit Sharma now becomes the first captain in 60 years to win the toss and elect to bat first at Kanpur. The last skipper to do so was India captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi way back in 1964 during a Test match against England.
On the other hand, this was the first time in nine years that India has opted to field after winning the toss in a Test match at home. The last time that they did this was against South Africa in 2015 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Ravichandran Ashwin heroics:
Ravichandran Ashwin is going from strength to strength in the ongoing two-match Test series against Bangladesh. On Day 1 of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, Ashwin set a new landmark with the wicket Bangla skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto.
The Rajasthan Royals all-rounder also moved into 2nd position on the table with bowlers who have claimed the most wickets in Asia. Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan leads the way with 612 out of his 800 wickets coming in Asia.
