New Delhi: Star India batter Virat Kohli was spotted strolling down a street in London after a disappointing performance in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Kohli struggled with the bat, managing only 58 runs from three matches at an average of 19.33. A video clip of his rare public appearance has now gone viral on social media, showing Kohli casually crossing the street in London.

Earlier he went to London after India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph and he was previously seen with wife Anushka Sharma and son Akaay. Virat and Anushka were earlier pictured attending a kirtan at the Union Chapel in London.

On the other hand, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is expected to make a comeback for the Test series against New Zealand which will begin from October 16 after a much need break. He could continue to be on rest for the two Test against Bangladesh in September.

The Indian management and selectors are looking to bring more variety into the pace attack, and maybe considering a left-arm seam and swing bowler as an option for combinations with the crop of fast bowlers vying for Test caps.

Amongst the people in contention, Arshdeep Singh makes a strong case because of his consistent performance in the T20 format, while Khaleel Ahmed has been injury-prone and inconsistent but is highly rated by some experts.

“In case of Bumrah, he knows his body the best and it will be up to him if he wants to play in the Tests against Bangladesh. The team management and selectors are very clear that India needs a 120 per cent fit Jasprit Bumrah for all five Tests against Australia Down Under. Before that, there is New Zealand in India, where he will probably play and get ready for the sterner tests,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Arshdeep Singh’s induction into red-ball cricket was part of Rahul Dravid’s plan and he played for Kent in county games last year.

Khaleel Ahmed has improved a lot but the inconsistencies still remain. Another left-arm seamer, Yash Dayal is in the fray but he is still well behind both Khaleel and Arshdeep in the pecking order.
