New Delhi: The IPL 2025 mega auction, set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24-25, has attracted a total of 1,574 players from 17 countries. Among them, 409 are overseas players, including some high-profile names like Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul. Surprisingly, there are also 48 capped Indian cricketers in the mix. One unexpected entry that has caught the attention of fans and franchises alike is a player representing Italy. It is expected that these players will ignite fierce bidding wars as teams look to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.

Thomas Jack Draca, a 24-year-old Italian cricketer, has entered his name for the IPL 2025 mega auction, marking a historic moment as the first player from Italy to do so. Draca has played four T20Is for Italy, taking eight wickets, and now aims to join the world’s most lucrative franchise cricket league.

Thomas Jack Draca is a right-arm medium pacer who made his T20I debut for Italy on June 29, 2024, against Luxembourg in an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Europe Qualifier Group A match held in Spinaceto.

Thomas Jack Draca, who played for Brampton Wolves in the 2024 Global T20 Canada, taking 11 wickets in six matches, was signed by MI Emirates for the 2025 season of ILT20 in September. If shortlisted for the IPL 2025 auction, he could attract interest from the Mumbai Indians franchise.

Among the overseas players registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction, 91 are from South Africa and 76 from Australia. Mitchell Starc, who was bought by KKR for ₹24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 auction, has set a base price of ₹2 crore for this year’s auction. He is expected to be joined by other high-profile players like Steve Smith, Australia’s T20I captain Mitchell Marsh, and former opener David Warner.

A total of 52 players from England have registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction, but Test captain Ben Stokes has opted to stay out, focusing on Test cricket and preparing for England’s five-match Test series against India and the Ashes. In contrast, former England pacer James Anderson, who last played a T20 match in 2014, has entered the auction at a base price of ₹1.25 crore.
