Axar Patel Hits Back-to-Back Boundaries to Reach 50 Against India C in Duleep Trophy 2024

New Delhi: Team India all-rounder Axar Patel once again showcased his resilience in the 2024 Duleep Trophy, guiding his team India D from a precarious position of 48/6. Displaying a strong batting performance, he reached his half-century in impressive fashion with three consecutive boundaries off the bowling of India C's young left-arm spinner Manav Suthar.

India C pacers dominated the first hour of the match as the pitch was offering enough movement in the air and off the track. The left-handed batter came out in the 11th over and started playing with his techniques to soak the heavy pressure. When spinners came to bowl, he unleashed his best shots.

After fighting hard for 117 balls, smashing six sixes and six fours, Axar Patel eventually got out against off-spinner Hrithik Shokeen with Suthar taking the catch. India D were bowled out for 164 as umpires called off tea with his wicket.

It won’t be easy for Ruturaj Gaikwad’s India C either as they will be up against the likes of Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana in the last session of the day. Both of them have techniques that can swing the new ball and generate some extra bounce.

This was yet another display of Axar’s growing technique in Indian cricket. If he keeps performing like this, he might be seen as a good option for the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia in December.
